Hey Everyone,

This is my first try at the "Face Off" so it will evolve slowly as I find out what you would like to see and hear. TSgt Ken Bartlett will head the recreational hockey team Hanscom Hockey teams with Chief Mike Boudreau and TSgt Kevin Casilli running the competitive league play. We expect to hear great things about both.

THURSDAY ICE HOCKEY

Thursday Hockey will be played this week at the MDC Veterans Memorial Ice Arena, located on Totten Pond Road, Waltham Mass Exit 27A off Route 128 (South from the base) at noon.

Last week we had a good turnout and lots of fast play. Goalies are always appreciated, so if you can give TSgt Ken Bartlett a call and let him know you can make, that would be awesome.

SATURDAY ICE HOCKEY

Saturday will be played against the Bandits at 10PM in Medford at the Flynn Memorial Rink, tel. # (781) 395-8492.

These are usually good games and a lot of fun. Once again, if goalies can contact Ken Bartlett, that would be a big help.

MONDAY ICE HOCKEY

Monday Hockey (8 Jan 01) showed nine skaters and one goalie. Expect to see drills and try outs on Mondays starting 22 Jan 01 instead of the pick up games of today and Thursday. Any questions can be forwarded to the Chief at (781) 377-1138 or TSgt Kevin Casilli (781) 377-5297.

All workouts will happen at the MDC Veterans arena located on Totten Pond Rd in Waltham.

OTHER SKATE TIMES

1. I received an email inviting HAFB Players to play at Groton: POC

Kenny West,

[Kenny.West@UCMS.net]

5:30AM-7:00 AM on Fridays at Lawrence Academy .

2.   Also, by schedule and invitation of Bob Pugh: Tuesday Waltham at noon, see Bob or Dan DeBenidictis.

EQUIPMENT

I know several of you have put equipment in the face off, so what would probably be easier is if Kevin Perry puts together a page on the web site where you can list your stuff and contact numbers. I have contacted Kevin and he said he'll add the equipment page.

I will remind people to check there, so keeping the info current is key. If you have something you would like put there, contact Ken at his email address above.

SPORTING GOODS

On another note, for new equipment the Hanscom Air Force Base Community has a SPECIAL MILITARY deal at Dynamic Sports of Reading Mass, 781-942-1153.

The owners Pete (Head Coach Reading HS) and Mark Dougherty (Director Adult League Burbank Arena) are outstanding and will help players in selecting equipment at great buys.

Dynamic Sports will also give you a military discount through the year if you use your military ID.

Pete and Mark do a great job sharpening skates so I suggest you visit them soon.

Bring this copy of face off and save $1 Dollar off sharpening.

TOURNAMENTS

Planning for the Hanscom Hockey Club to participate in the Wright Patterson Tournament at the end of the season,  20 to 22 April 2001 is well underway.

This would be a good time to start to plan for our travel so let Ken Bartlett know your ideas.

HOCKEY WEBSITE

Visit Pro/Semi-Pro and Military Websites on the links provided (above) to access other great hockey sites.

DO YOU HAVE ANOTHER HOCKEY WEBSITE, SEND IT TO ME AND I WILL HAVE IT PLACED ON OUR WEBSITE?
